The morning after Valentine's Day . . .
I don't know about you, but I have a sugar hangover today. Those Valentine's treats about did me in. Look for some healthier recipes in the next few days. I have been a very naughty girl. This old body of mine is screaming for some veggies.
Hope you had a good Valentine's Day. King-Man and I went out to dinner and came home for dessert: angle food cake with strawberries, hot fudge sauce, and whipped cream. This might have something to do with why I'm OD'd on sugar today. Ugh.
I will be sharing that hot fudge recipe with you soon. It's the easiest, best hot fudge. But first some healthy recipes. I have to stop being naughty. Dang it. For a few days, at least. A healthy, refreshing salad will be coming up in my next post.

Elsewhere in the family . . .
Here's what Brackenthebox and Rachel had for their romantic Valentine's Day meal at their Boston condo. I love the cardboard box next to the elegant table setting. The box is for their kitty Sal. His favorite "toy". Sal pretty much runs the place.
The menu was seared scallops and steamed green beans with a carrot-ginger sauce from Fine Cooking. Yum. Fine Cooking is our favorite cooking magazine--great recipes, ideas, and photos.
Their meal looks way healthier than what we had. Usually Occasionally, my son and daughter-in-law are much more mature and sensible than I am. I'll bet they don't have a sugar hangover today like me. Although, maybe they just didn't take a photo of dessert.

From A Yummy Reader . . .
Yummy friend, Sandy sent these photos when she made my Taco Seasoning Mix recipe. Sandy used a Cuisinart Smart Power Compact Blender to mix it up, and said that a batch fit perfectly in one of the containers. This is a kitchen appliance I don't happen to own (uh-oh, King-Man gets nervous when he knows that I've learned about a new kitchen gadget that's out there). I think it's used primarily for smoothies, but it also works well for small batches of other things. Like Taco Seasoning Mix. Thanks so much for sharing the photos and tip, Sandy. Beautiful layers in the first photo!

Recipes and ideas from other bloggers . . .
Here are some great-looking recipes and ideas I've come across recently. Check them out!
♦The Geeks Guide to Rebooting Your Kitchen from Lifehacker.com. Brackenthebox sent me this link following my post about How to Organize Your Spices. There are some good tips here, even if you're not a Geek. Or, at least you don't think you're a Geek. I've recently done some kitchen reorganizing and will be sharing my Geekified kitchen photos soon.
♦Strawberry and Mixed Green Salad with Poppy Seed Vinaigrette from TheComfortofCooking.com. This looks refreshing, simple, and delicious.
♦Spanish Romesco Sauce from Simply Recipes. This recipe has so many of my favorite ingredients (smoked paprika, roasted red bell peppers, almonds); it has to be delicious. It is kind of a pesto alternative. Elise's recipes are consistently good. I'm trying this one, for sure!
♦Tortellini Soup from Annie Eats. This looks like an easy, nutritious soup to throw together quickly. It would be good with some of my mini-meatballs, too--in addition to or replacing the tortellini.
♦Guacamole from OilandButter.com. I love guacamole in many shapes and forms. This particular recipe looks hard to beat.

Do you have a sugar hangover today, too? Maybe you weren't as naughty as me.
Make it a yummy day!
